Shahid Khan Afridi has been announced as T-20 captain of Pakistan cricket team.
Lahore Sep 16: According to a press release by Paksitan Cricket Board today, Shahid Afridi has today been announced as captain of the Pakistan T20 squad till the ICC World T20 in 2016. The slot was lying vacant following Muhammad Hafeez’s resignation after the ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh earlier this year.
The decision to retain Misbah-ul-Haq as captain of Test and One Day squad till next year’s ICC World Cup was also reaffirmed.
Commenting on these developments Chairman PCB Mr. Shaharyar Khan said, “In line with my policy of taking decisions democratically I consulted Cricket Committee and my Board members before announcing these decisions. I wish both Afridi and Misbah very good luck in their upcoming assignments.”
Pakistan will start their tour against Australia next month with a T20 scheduled on 5th October 2014 at Dubai Cricket Stadium, UAE.
The T20, ODI and Test teams for the series against Australia shall be announced in due course.

Fazlullah escaped during Army operation in Swat in 2009 and took shelter in Afghanistan Kunnar province. Mullah Fazlullah, a hardline commander from the Swat area, was chosen after a conference in north-west Pakistan. Mehsud was killed when missiles struck his vehicle in the North Waziristan region on 1 November. Pakistan’s government accused the US of destroying its attempts to start peace talks with the Taliban. The announcement was made by the Taliban’s caretaker leader Asmatullah Shaheen at a press conference at an undisclosed location. There was reportedly heavy celebratory gunfire in the Miranshah area when the news was announced. Maulana Fazlullah led a brutal campaign in Swat between 2007 and 2009, enforcing hardline Islamic law that included burning schools, and public floggings and beheadings.
Islamabad: government and opposition conducted two separate senate sessions here in Islamabad today. The members of the opposition continue to boycott senate session for the ninth consecutive day on Thursday and the opposition’s session is underway outside senate. On the other hand the government continued with routine senate proceedings inside the parliament house.
The senate session was being held outside the Parliament House to protest against the behavior of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday.
Addressing from the session held outside the Parliament, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said traditions were exploited in the Parliament House while it has been made hostage.
Aitzaz Ahsan and other opposition leaders were also present at the occasion. During his address at Constitution Avenue, Senator Rabbani said the state is trying to suppress them by using powers. He further said that they will continue their struggle to uphold Parliamentary traditions.
